Donor and Special Projects

One-of-a-kind and unique projects throughout the medical center supported by the generous support of donors and donations and facilitated by The Fine Art Program and Collection.

Celebrating The Bronx

The Fine Art Program at Montefiore Einstein in partnership with Studio in a School NYC is proud to present Celebrating the Bronx, a digital collage mural, featuring artworks created by 5th-grade students from P.S. 72 in the Bronx.
Bronx-based Graphic Designer Jose Rivera created a singular, cohesive image using scans of the students’ artworks. The final design is a raucous ode to the Bronx, highlighting the joy and vibrancy of the borough!

Celebrating the Bronx: Artworks from PS 72X

The artworks explore aspects of life in the Bronx that have captured the students’ imagination: We see architectural landmarks such as Yankee Stadium, neighborhood street scenes, flora and fauna from local green spaces, and exotic plants and animals from the famed New York Botanical Garden and Bronx Zoo. During the 2023-2024 school year, the Fine Art Program and Collection at Montefiore Einstein invited Studio to create an artwork to welcome patients and guests to the Department of Otorhinolaryngology/Audiology. The final design is forthcoming, but we have included selection of renderings created by Don Giordano.

Collaborative Landscape

Created by artist and graphic designer Kathryn Paletta, Collaborative Landscape is a two-part mural installation created for the Children’s Hospital Oncology Playroom on the 9th floor. The mural was created in collaboration with The Fine Art Program, the Child Life Program, and Graphics by Color Group. Generous support from The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company.

The Crane Project

A tribute of hope and healing at Montefiore in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hundreds of staff members from all of our campuses participated in remote and in-person sessions to create six word poems from their experience during the peak of the pandemic that were then made into thousands of paper cranes.

Signs of Compassion

Created by local artist Miggs Burroughs, this exhibit displays a series of animated, lenticular photos of 30 individuals expressing a poem by Emily Dickinson in American Sign Language (ASL), one word or phrase at a time - a sillent poetry reading celebrating the value of compassion. Currently installed at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains thanks to a generous donor.
